Nice find
Lovely machine, with the elegant "hellenic" seatstays and as desirable as a Singer or Herse and much rarer !

Thank you very much, I was not aware of the rarity when I bought the bicycle, and there are also not many around for comparing. Luckily some catalogues show similarities. Still some things left to do for a passionate rider and collector. The chrome is in very good condition.

Still some things left to do for a passionate rider and collector. Like finding a Grand Tétras for the TA bottle cage? Nice bike, indeed.

That one (Grand Tetras, is that the name? Thank you)I am searching too, but mainly the rear and front derailleur and shifters need to be upgraded. Maybe also the saddle which is for my taste a bit too old fashioned.

Exactly, that's what I thought! Jubilee RD I already got. Anyone has an opinion on the reference to Roger Roche? I hope that his nephew reads the post on some point.

I hope that his nephew reads the post on some point. it is undoudtfully a Roger Roche frame and the Berthoud "mention" is probably apocryphal ( unless Berthoud commissioned Roger Roche ?) about the front derailleur - I confess I am not impressed by the reliability of the jubile FD as the cage wears out very rapidly and the front ones you see on sale are rarely in good condition - one side of the cage is very often very "thin" due to the wear of the chain. The huret success FD which I find as elegant is possibly a more practical solution

Very happy, that I am not the only one seeing Roger Roches hand there. I rather believe those early Berthoud (sur-mesure) were commissioned to Roger Roche. Because even in the very early Berthoud catalogue of 1979, there is the head tube and fork shoulders signature of RR already existing. I have assembled a picture below for comparison. Some details are different, but as example the crown is identical. On some Berthoud frames (number 43 is one of the earliest examples existing), there is even the typography style of RR recognizable. Regarding the derailleur, you are very right. Maybe I will visit a friend, who has both versions to test the perfect matching one.
