Bonjour, I hope you do not mind if I write in English - I am afraid my French is not as good as it used to be, and I need to re-learn a lot of vocabularies first... According to the decals on the seat-tube, it must have been before 1964, and due to the Peugeot-lettering on the down-tube probably after 1960. The only catalogue from that period I could find is from 1963: www.peugeotshow.com/images/1963_3.jpg Though the bike's description comes very close, it does not match exactly. Do you have any idea if the year could be narrowed down more exactly? Many thanks! Best, Ralf

Merci beaucoup! I think the link helped. According to the webpage, I would narrow the bike down to 1962/63. My only problem is that all bikes shown on the page are Peugeot PX10. Also, on the web I could not find any other pictures of a PA10 from that period. All bikes I found have the decals used from 1964 on... I also found an US-advertisment from 1963, mysite.verizon.net/vzerndgo/id36.html, which mentions five coat flamboyant colours. Blue would fit. I think narrowing it down closer than 1962/63 might be impossible.

Except if you can find a date stamped on component
For exemple, later Mafac brake levers have production date stamped on them.
Don't know for early version.
(Sorry for my english, only 6 years at school ;D)

Unfortunately the parts have no date codes at all. But I guess narrowing a bike down to two possible years isn't that bad. Thanks a lot! By the way, your English is very good (...and a hundered times better than my French).

Unfortunately the parts have no date codes at all. Maybe but your derailleurs are speaking by themselves. The rear one is the Export 61 (61 like 1961) The front LJ23 is also saying it's age The Mafac brakes, Racer or Dural Forge ? and if dural forge, which model (Racers should have a date on the back)

Just a short update in the Peugeot in the middle of the night... I have taken the bike apart to make it roadworthy again and carefully cleaned the frame so far. The other parts will follow as time allows. My intention is to keep the bike as original as possible.

I'll so my best to keep as many of the original parts as I can. After taking the bike completely apart, the only appararent replacements so far will be the rusty clamps for the cable and the Mafac half hoods on the braking levers. Yes, it's a Ideale 59 with Duraluminum rails.

Merci bien! Yes, the colour is indeed beautiful. Just today I have managed to finish the wheels. As I want to keep the bike as original as possible, I just went for new tires. Hubs, rims and spokes got a tough cleaning, and the result is not too bad, I think: Whenever time permits, I will clean a few of the parts and put them on the bike again. I am sorry the building up - thread is only in German, as it takes a lot of time, to do this in two languages at the same time, but maybe you want to have a look at it. From what the bike looked when I got it, it must have stood in a shed for some decades - as if it had been in a time capsule. A bit rust here and there, but as original as could be expected after that many years.

Hi Vent I deleted my previous post as I finally went on the german forum and saw that you posted there the same info about 1963 ... Yes my PA 10 has Nervex lugs and I must say that despite of the weight of "this babe", I'm always surprised with its dynamic characteristics .... I only removed the heavy Simplex steel crankset and replaced it with an aluminum Stronglight 49D ... Saddle is an Ideale 80 ... Very beautiful! But, are you sure it is from 1969? - I would guess it is a few years older... I have another one which I believe is from 1969. The reason I'm wondering are the drop-out ends - as far as I know, in 1969 Peugeot switched to forged ones on the PA 10.
