Hello Forum!
I'm trying to ID the brand of this frame, I plan on having the frame stripped, filled and repainted, want to take it out at sunny days for shorter trips. I would love to add the correct brand decals.
This bike was probably bought in the Netherlands and stayed there ever since. (I live in the Netherlands as well) It was the bicycle of my late dad, who in the early 80's gave it to my recently deceased uncle, and we found it back on his attic about a month ago. (thought it was gone entirely.)
Sentimental value mostly. This forum is my last hope in the quest to determine a possible brand. (I think)
Known:
The handlebar is a Belgian 1967 Titan (67 is engraved/stamped at the bottom of the bar)The lugs are Prugnat 62S
The stays do not have a flat inner like Gitane.
The rear derailleur is from 1983
The tubing on both fork and frame is almost certain Reynolds 531 (decal is almost gone but recognizable)
So far I did find no markings (numbers, names etc) on the frame or fork. bottom of the BB included. The BB housing is closed at the underside, no holes, slots or stars, no cable guides.
The dropouts are Campagnolo
The bottlecage holes in the seattube are most likely added later, the decal was added before the holes...
The decals "Course" and the decal badge "Champion" are most likely generic decals added later. (It seems there is no connection with the Swedish brand "Champion". )
The seatpost diameter is 27.2mm (the current Campagnolo seatpost sits snug but not too tight or too loose.)
The BB measures 68mm 1.37x24
The Stem/Quill is 22.2mm
The headset is (Shimano Exage Hp450A) 25.4mm
Stem is MavicHubs are Campa Nuovo Record
Fork crown seems to be similar with some other Belgian frames. (Teval, Samyn) The stamps at the fork crown bottom are the only actual markings I have found. (on frame and fork that is)
Bike was upgraded over the years, with the oldest part I could date, (handlebar) from 1967 and the latest part being a Shimano UN52 BB from around 1998.
If new photos of certain sections are needed for identification, please let me know.
Thank you for taking a look!
