Ok, I can see the differences you mention. It is a pity that the 'Super Randonneur' never shows the dropouts due to the mounted bags. The resolution is in both brochures not very good but there is clearly a difference at the seat stays, i.e. the older version shows that there is something that might be the Meral panto which the newer one lacks. If there would only be a single picture in the web that shows the features I have on a Méral. Do you know how much they customized those days on request? E.g. the rear brake cable enters on the left and leaves on the left side on my frame. Different in the brochure. There are also bottle holder sockets on both tubes, this one only has it on the down tube. Don't misunderstand me, I am very much willing that I bought a Méral because that is exactly what I intended. I just don't want to create a Méral out of a different frame... Thank you once again. You guys are actually impressive. We have experts on the German forum but even though French bikes are very much appreciated, we lack expertise. Glad to find it here

You are right, all Méral pics I have seen on the web have Méral panto on the right side and dropout with screw. www.flickr.com/photos/33536892@N00/sets/72157632836721411/The ends of internal brake cable routing are not the same as the usual Meral on your frame (don't know with Cyfac), but this one has similarity (pump peg too). Sir Norris show different model : www.flickr.com/photos/cyclecrank/with/2157081386/What kind of sticker Reynolds on your frame, 501 or 531? Be attentive to the paint, the spangles can also allow an identification.

There is a 501 sticker, but I am pretty sure the frame got a new paint (good work) at some point so it is not really reliable. There seems to be red color underneath.
Great, the Geliano appears to be very similar to my frame! Thank you very much for the hint. The only thing that still does not match is the seat stay.

Hi Bustamania, ( Salut Bustamania,) May be you can look up at this link: restoringvintagebicycles.com/2015/05/09/1980-meral-650b-evolution/ ( Peut-être que tu peux regarder sur ce lien : ....) A woman who restores vintage bicycles from the hand built Era: that's not typical. ( Une femme qui restaure des vélos anciens de l'époque artisanale: cela n'est pas habituel)

Salut Manuche, I am glad you answered. Of course I am aware that on first sight it seems to be a Méral. It's the details that make me insecure. As written mainly the different dropouts and the missing Mèral panto at the seat stays. So can you tell me that your Cyfac is definately a different frame? I just wondered about the resemblance of the rear dropouts on your first pic where you were asking what this Chain guard is there for. And since the two brands are connected, it might very well be. The Geliano idea is also very seductive though. (I wouldn't really call the bikes she presents "restored", but I don't wanna be too picky )

(I wouldn't really call the bikes she presents "restored", but I don't wanna be too picky ) Here is an attemp at French translation: (ici , un essai de traduction en français) Salut M., Je suis ravi de ta réponse.
