First of all, greetings from Finland and please pardon me for writing in English on a French forum. The reason why I registered here is that I would need your help identifying a French cyclocross frame for the 80's.
A couple of pictures of the frame build up as a fixed gear cx bike:
Picture of the frame
Lug details 1
Lug details 2
Lug details 3
Some details of the frame:
Frame size: seat tube 62cm (centre-to-top), top tube 59cm (centre-to-centre)
Bottom bracket shell: Brittish threaded
Fork: French threaded
Stem diameter: 22.2mm
Rear fork spacing: 130mm
Seat post diameter: 26.6mm
Seat tube external diameter: 28.0mm (same as downtube)
Dropouts: Gipiemme
Frame weight: 2220g
Fork weight: 850g
More details: no chainstay bridge, no bottle cage mounts
I believe that the frame was made for 27" (630) wheel size, since it was impossible to fit any modern or vintage cantilever brakes. Hence, removed the original cantilever bosses and brazed new ones to match the modern spacing. While doing this I found out that fork blades are of Super Vitus 980. Judging from the tube diameters the frame could be metric 531.
I posted some pictures of the process on the Finnish fixed gear forum yksivaihde.net. The text is in Finnish, sorry about that.
I already found out that EC Morsang is a bike club based in Morsang sur Orge. That was a funny coincidence because I have family friends in that area and I've actually spend some holidays there when I was younger. I tried contacting the club by email, but never received an answer.
Sooner or later I have to have the frame repainted, because the original laquer is in a pretty bad conditions and after cantilever boss brazing I only did some quick and dirty spray can painting as rust protection.
It would be great if you could help identify the frame or point me to the right direction.
Helpful guys at pignonfixe.com already told me that the lugs are Prugnat Victoire.
